Access North Bright Idea Funding Resources

Lets start at the beginning, the three most important things that we can tell you about funding your project are:

  1. Develop a solid short and long range plan FIRST.
  2. Know your audience - research granters and find one that fits your project.
  3. Develop a strong statement of need - convince them your project is worth them sinking their money into.

More Grant Writing Tips:

  • Read the Request for Proposals (RFP) and follow directions exactly.  Not following directions is a good way to have your proposal summarily disqualified or loose points when grant readers are scoring your RFP against others.
  • Use simple, direct language.
  • Use the funder's own words and phrases in your headings so information will be easy for them to find.
  • Use a legible font, like Times Roman 12 point.
  • Be sure to explain all abbreviations
  • Proof read your completed proposal several times.  Get a colleague to proof your proposal, too.
  • Do not tolerate mistakes or sloppiness in the narrative or budget. Your proposal is all the reviewers have to determine how you'll implement a project. No funding source wants to invest in sloppy work.
